Sea Turtles and Their Reproduction

Sea turtles reproduce by laying eggs. The female sea turtle will find a warm spot on the beach and lay anywhere from 70 to 190 eggs.

The mother sea turtle will then return back to the ocean once she has laid her eggs. The baby turtles will hatch between six and 10 weeks after the eggs have been laid.

Once they have hatched, the baby turtles must make the dangerous journey to the sea. There are many of the baby turtles that will not survive long enough to make it to the ocean because they are the prey of many of the creatures that live near the ocean.
